Gardening Services

Services offered

I offer year-round care of your garden plants.

There is much to do in the garden in springtime, from seed-sowing to mulching the soil and preparing borders for the season to come, but December and January can also be busy: this is the time to winter prune wisteria and grapevines, to prune apple and pear trees, as well as checking climbers are securely tied in, protecting the garden from the weather and getting to grips with a myriad of jobs such as ventilating the greenhouse, and not forgetting those very pleasant tasks such as harvesting winter veg such as leeks.

Pruning of roses and shrubs
Pruning roses can often instil apprehension in many people.  Some questions that can prey on people's minds are "When is the right time to prune?"  "What happens if I get it wrong?"  "Will I kill my rose?".  Timing is an important factor when pruning roses, and the pruning process can be time consuming.  It is important to get it right for a lovely display of blooms throughout the summer.

Planting ideas and advice
What should you do with that shady area in the corner?  What plants do well beneath a large tree?  Which perennials will thrive in clay soil, or very sandy soil?  There are numerous factors to take into account when deciding which plants to choose. Your situation is unique to you, it is therefore important to choose the right plants from the outset in order to prevent expensive repeat visits to the garden centre

Plant sourcing and aftercare
I can help find and obtain your plants, whether annuals, perennials, or shrubs.  Once planted in your garden, I will arrange regular visits to check their health and vigour.
